Of 310,000,000 United States residents, perhaps 57,000,000 are grade school students. Probing this broad statistical base with elegant computerized evaluative correlations, an army of Masters degrees holders in education, sociology and psychology maintain that 30% of our school population is educationally challenged (irremediably stupid). So great are their numbers and their need that tremendous outlays of funds are required to coddle them, the adolescent imbeciles and their adult sponges, to the exclusion of the useful education of the normal (privileged) 70%. This discovery is coincident with the arrival of a flood of degreed poobahs who double-majored in administration.
Asians and the occasional Jew have monopolized most university berths in mathematics, engineering, and the sciences by their definitive outperformance of their delicate White competitors and an ocean of high self-esteem Black and Brown frank dolts. What remains for our just saying "no" children but to go into Psych., Soc., or Ed. where they are spared the burdens of lucid thought and class attendance?
Fiscal 2001 Federal education subsidies,
$1200 million: Retarded and crippled children 655 million: Children who don't speak English 11 million: Gifted children
That works out to 0.6% of the compassionate budget for the Gifted, or $3.75/(Gifted child-year) less administrative expenses - or $zero/(Gifted child-year) net. We are lavishly purchasing a future we loathe. As the Liberals say, "HIV and AIDS are caused by lack of funding."

I can believe that 30% of humanity is incapable of functioning within a community where literacy, numeracy, coherent analysis, and a conquering will to ultimately succeed despite proximate personal sacrifice are requirements. The broad variability of phenotypic expression courtesy of our gene pool provides for all sorts of people who can survive in all sorts of milieus, as the need arises. Why do we subsidize these culls' existence? The agonizingly obvious result is our forfeiture of the futures of the 70% of our descendants who are fit to compete, and excel.
In ideal circumstances, perhaps 10% of all babies are born with a detectable birth defect. Minor developmental anomalies such as webbed toes are commonplace. More serious errors, cleft palate, are surgically correctable to normalcy. Disastrous teratoidal malformations such as spina bifida, anencephaly, fetal alcohol syndrome and other drug- and nutrition-related deep destructions of the fetus mold animate lumps requiring awesome and perpetual financial outlay for their survival. Never during their State-supported lives will they repay the investment lost by society. Many normal children are heir to horrible privation deriving from financial obstacles. Why do we vigorously subsidize the valueless to the exclusion of those of real potential?
Genetic anomalies similarly span the range from reasonably treatable to normalcy (phenylketonuria, via diet) to irrevocably and severely dysfunctional (Down's Syndrome), to undeniably near-term lethal (Tay-Sachs Disease). Why do we tolerate wasting millions of dollars to award a child with no immune system life? Why is every interventive medical effort made to keep in good health a Down's Syndrome idiot whom Nature would offhandedly expunge? It is said that in the absence of deadly competition Mankind has ceased to evolve. It would appear that Mankind is determined to preserve its defectives to the detriment, and even exclusion, of its fit. This is not a clever strategy, no matter how charitably self-satisfying the implementation of the tactics.

King, Esq. has filed "Anderson v State" C-914501, which lawsuit demands the right for California Death Row inmates to have their sperm frozen for future artificial insemination. It is their god-given right to reproduce, at State expense. One wonders how potential mothers will be conscripted. I am pleased that the gifted folk have no such rights. Imagine what would transpire if our society subsidized the reproduction of intelligent or talented people. Discrimination!
Social entitlement programs undergo exponential growth in the magnitude of their subsidies and the breadth of their coverage. The growth of their avaricious bureaucracies demands it. This wildly accelerating engine has no governor in the form of profit/loss statements. There is no negative feedback if the consequences of these schemes are independent of, or even counter to their stated goals - until deficit spending saturates.
The Savings and Loan scandal, one thousand billion dollars of unsecured debt, is a spark thrown from a fuse burning short. World.com and Enron disappeared about $100 billion all by themselves. Obamnation dumped $6 trillion into Wall Street when 2008 crashed, and it disappeared without a ripple. Germany was turned financially inside-out by the costs of reunification. The European Economic Community is a swamp of tax-supported agricultural subsidies and a twitching Euro. The Japanese economic miracle has expanded to its physical and political limits as its youth have simultaneously presented demands for the promised good life, now! The United States is fiscally destitute, industrially emasculated, politically corrupt, and culturally balkanized - and those are the functional residents.
Malthus and Darwin are about to enter into a tag team match with Democratic Obamanation's generosity and Mother Teresa's social conscience. Civilization is betting on the losers.
