A1, "A science fairness experiment in Berkeley." $400,000 disappeared from an astoundingly successful high school Advanced Placement program because its output was primarily White and Asian. National AP/Chem pass rate is 55.2%. Berkeley High School managed 82%. AP Chemistry, Biology, and Physics were slated for destaffing, defunding, and post-consumer land filling. Liberated resources were redirected to diversity tutoring and its managerial studies.
"Only 30.8% of African-American students at Berkeley High School are proficient in English and 31.3% in math, according to the State Department of Education." Oppressor children are 80% and 79% respectively. Some of the latter have been in this country since the Vietnam War was lost while African-Americans were manumitted as recently as President Lincoln. The average LAUSD student has 35% math proficiency and 34% reading proficiency costing $13.6 billion 2008-2009. It is a future money can buy.
High school Peoples of Colour suffer racial and ethnic prejudice because the two ends of a test tube are not both open for adding liquid (that, and calculating colligative properties of tert-butyl alcohol). Their equally valid voices were cruelly quashed by objective qualification standards. It was patriarchal historic White Protestant European oppression at its most heinous. It was like, you know, axin' gainful employment in trade for a paycheck. It was a Cracker thing, and it was wrong.
Ignorance can be educated, stupidity is forever. A social advocate makes virtue of failure. The worse the cure the better the treatment - and the more that is required. The Bell Curve was racist for illuminating 70 years of test statistics from education, industry, and the military. It should have celebrated Official expectations.
Cerebral enfeeblement promenaded by English-challenged lower classes is legend. The Irish flooded New England then Chicago, and were cruelly forced to overrun all civil service vocations. Turn of the past century New York City was buried beneath English-illiterate Italians and Jews whose kids stole organized crime and Hollywood from rightful Dutch heirs. City University of New York produced 12 Noble Laureates - 17% of them women - with proletarian accents so thick dogs howled.

Two Liberals are walking along a city street when they hear a moan issuing from an alley. The solution to stupidity - whatever its container - is to let it prosper by its own hand. Stupid is not a defect. Stupid is a fact. Television taught us that Windows Vista worked for a 6-year old Asian girl e-mailing unusual pictures of her parents to Grandma (copies likely arriving in Redmond, WA). Do you believe what you are Officially told or what your lying eyes see for themselves?
Greek mythology awards us Procrustes, a man so compassionate that he constructed his home by a road and lent succor to wayfarers. He was equitable - the Six Sigma, the ISO 900x of despotic conformity. Anybody too tall for his bed suffered the excess length amputated. Procrustes left no visitor behind, for he had two beds of different sizes.
"Sup[erintendant] Huyett agreed that requiring students to attend science lab is an 'access issue' for all students" presumably unlike racial equity after-school programs and Vice President Al Gore's ankle-spraining munificently funded Night Basketball. Objective ability is not a collateralized mortgage obligation. Failing a pre-med for cause pre-emptively saves untold hundreds of lives. Diversity graduating a physician is homicide by proxy.
Nascent chemists arrive color-coded, and those with greatest ability express the smallest need. The American Chemical Society's Scholars Program is 15 years of six-figure disbursements: 55% Black, 39% Brown, 6% Red, and the balance White and Yellow. Do not worry about opening a new bottle of aspirin with added toxic fire retardant - it has already been done for socially advocative reasons (Chemical & Engineering News 88(4) 18 (2010)). The FDA said it was a bad thing and should not happen too often.
